Communication & Greeting Rituals
Icelanders expect a firm and strong handshake when greeting one another. In Iceland, folks value the thumbs up sign as a sign of excellence. When among friends, womn will kiss (on the cheek) and hug one another and men may hug and kiss a woman they are friends with and maybe even hug each other. While Icelanders can be quiet and serious, they pride themselves on letting loose and their casual ideals, so do not be surprised to hear Icelanders farting, slurping, blowing bubbles and burping in public!
